I was born in war ravaged Europe and escaped Communism to become an immigrant in the US. My book deals with the trauma of war, a dramatic escape, the loss of all that was familiar, and the difficulties of adapting to life in a foreign land. These are experiences which resonate today with a broad range of people. The theme of the book is that unhealed trauma distorts forever the character and life of the victims. A person or peoples who have been traumatized will transmit that wound to those around them and their descendents. This, in a broader sense, can include whole societies and even countries. Memories of my life are used to illustrate that theme. Finally, the book presents a path for healing.
